WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Our Team

JAY SONEFF - OWNER

Jay Soneff was raised in a family that appreciated the automobile. For starters, he was born and raised as a Hudson lover because of their evolutionary styling and performance. Furthermore, Jay grew up in the eve of the muscle car era. He hung out at Bandimere Speedway for Friday night Drags and at 16th Street Downtown for the Saturday night cruise.

At just 16, Jay rebuilt his own engines, including the 426 Hemi that belonged to a 1968 Hemi GTX Convertible. This rebuild was supervised by the late and great Gene Hopkins who was one of Ford Motors’s top performance gurus. It was said by many people back in the day that "nobody could get more horses out of a muscle car than Gene!"

Working side by side with his father, the late John Soneff, Soneff's Master Garage, Inc. was voted Best Muscle Car Dealer by Westword Magazine in the 90's because it had a great variety of Hemi and Six Pack vehicles--Cobras, Vettes, Shelby's, and Hurst Performance Series cars.

The philosophy at Soneff's has always been to enjoy one's car. SMG has NEVER been branded as a keeper of art pieces and builder of concourse winners. Cars were made to be driven, frequently washed, polished, and to have their hoods popped open at car shows. Cars were not to be permanently stored as ‘art pieces.’
