1965 Chevrolet Malibu SS Convertible Z16 Tribute

A magnificent restoration of a true SS Malibu, 4 speed convertible is finally entering the paint stage of the resurrection. 

This incredible car is a dedicated tribute to the one and only Z-16 Convertible that was “supposedly” built, but never to be seen.

Restoration began with a very rusty SS convertible found in Missouri. The original drivetrain long removed, but at the time a drivable Convertible SS.

The car has been completely re-built including a nicely warmed-over high horsepower 396 coupled to a 5 speed Tremec manual transmission.

The car is being repainted with a late model metallic GM Blue. Cowl tag shows the car as a Blue with Blue interior 4 speed car, but we are changing the interior to White with a White Manual Convertible Top.

Projected to be an incredibly fun driver with power steering, power disc brakes 5 speed with Lots of horsepower.

This project spanning nearly 10 years in the process is slated for completion late summer 2026.

Price when completed estimated to be $175,000. As with all of our restoration cars, a significant pre-completion purchase is available with an accelerated completion date.
