1969 Plymouth Barracuda Notchback
Exterior Color: Yellow
This bright yellow factory hod rod was found in Southern California where it reportedly lived its entire life. The car had ended up in an art exhibit at a large National Park where all the art pieces were abandoned vehicles from the past.
In order to get a place at the park, the entire car needed to be drained of its fluids. We found the block freeze plugs had been pried from the block to drain the coolant.
The California weather had been kind to the sheet metal on this car—it was found with near perfect floors, frame and trunk pan.
Once this Barracuda was discovered by SMG, we noticed some very rare and unusual codes on its original fender tag. Have never seen the A14 code on an A body which denotes a very special deluxe interior package, including a special light-yellow vinyl and all black accents. The Y08 code deleting the vinyl top, which counters the tag code of V1T, tan vinyl top, was also very unusual.
Quite rare and very desirable is the equipment package of bucket seats, power steering, power disc brakes, and hood mounted turn signals.
SMG was excited to purchase this barracuda because it never had its original drive removed. Still in- tact was its matching number engine and transmission.
When the car first arrived on the site the engine was checked to find that it did turnover; it felt like it would run. The original plan was just to do a cosmetic restoration and then the minimum mechanically. Shortly after starting the restoration, we changed plans to include a drive train rebuild because the car was so pure and solid.
The vehicle is now being reassembled as the engine is rebuilt to its exact, original specifications, with the exception that the block has been bored .30, and a new balanced piston and rod assembly matching the bore is installed.
The final product will be a high-quality driver restoration that will give tremendous delight to the owner as well as have the maximum opportunity for appreciation due to its originality.
This rare and beautiful Formula S Cuda will be completed prior to the end of January 2019. Estimated offering price will be between $40,000 and $50,000. A discounted price incentive is available for pre-completion purchase.
*We highly recommend each car is inspected by a third party prior to purchase.
